Back to our roots: from Byron Bay to the Basque Country
Lore of the Sea was born in Byron Bay, Australia — a place known for its surf culture, golden light, and effortless coastal lifestyle. But the story truly begins much earlier, in the Basque Country of Southern France, where Laure, the founder, grew up surrounded by ocean, nature, and long European summer days.
It was there that a deep connection to the sea first took shape — a love for sunlit coastlines, saltwater days, and the feeling of freedom that comes with living by the ocean. That connection carried through to Byron Bay, where a new chapter began and the vision for Lore of the Sea came to life.
The ARGIA Collection
ARGIA — meaning “light” in Basque — is a tribute to those early Euro summers. A celebration of sun-drenched days with the vivid contrast of blue water and golden light.
This limited-edition collection captures that essence through a radiant palette of vivid blues and glowing yellows, designed to reflect the energy of the ocean and the warmth of summer. Each piece is crafted from recycled, UV-protective fabrics — created to protect both your skin and the oceans we cherish.
Designed for women who value both style and performance, the ARGIA collection brings together refined design and functional women's surfwear, made to move effortlessly in and out of the water.
Returning to where it all began
This video takes us back to the Basque Country — to the landscapes, coastline, and surf culture that first inspired the brand.
Featuring women surfers in their element, it’s a celebration of community, connection, and the timeless beauty of the ocean. There’s something powerful about returning to familiar shores — where the light hits differently, and the roots run deep.
We went back to our roots to capture ARGIA in its most authentic form — honouring where the story began, and the light that continues to guide it.
Because sometimes, to move forward… you have to look back.
